Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI)
MAPI is a programming interface that allows applications to send or receive emails through the Microsoft Mail system, and it can be easily integrated with several other programs including Microsoft Outlook, Scalix, Zimbra, HP Open Mail, and many others.
If a small business utilizes MAPI software to send or receive emails, they need to ensure that their email client is compatible with MAPI. However, not all small businesses rely on this interface. Therefore, it is advisable to assess the actual need for MAPI-compatible software before making a purchase. If a small business uses a different email service, such as Gmail, there is no need for a MAPI interface.
