PDM (Product Data Management)
Product Data Management, also known as PDM, is the term used to describe the management and control of product design in the three main stages: conceptual design, detailed design, and production. PDM is used to organize product information, track any revisions, promote collaboration with other design stakeholders, manage changes, create Bill of Materials (BOM), and more.
PDM helps engineers save time and avoid mistakes by unifying data and design processes in one location. In an ideal context, an efficiently created and maintained PDM allows all stakeholders to keep up with the creation, communication, and maintenance of a project. This enables small and medium-sized businesses to freely share and study all product-related data during the design phase.
