Carrier neutrality
No tie to a single operator: the choice of carrier stays yours, with direct access to the main Italian internet exchange points and public and private peering.
A data center of our own in Venice and a network of partners in Italy and Europe: direct supervision where you need control, proximity where you need low latency. Choose where your workloads run.
The network
An edge data center is a data center placed close to the people and systems that use it, so that data travels a shorter distance and responses arrive with lower latency. Rackone's Edge network applies this idea across Italy and Europe: ten sites, and you choose where each workload runs.
The network works on two levels, by choice. Our own data center is in Venice, in Noventa di Piave: the building, the vault and the staff are ours, and everything that needs direct supervision runs through it.
To place workloads close to their users, we rely on partner data centers in Italy and Europe, where we host our servers and services: certified, interconnected, carrier-neutral sites that give what a single building cannot, real geographic redundancy and replication between sites.
Two levels, one network and one point of contact: the contract, the SLA and the phone number stay Rackone's wherever you choose to run the workload.
Features
These features apply to the sites of the Edge network, and they are the criteria on which the sites were selected.
No tie to a single operator: the choice of carrier stays yours, with direct access to the main Italian internet exchange points and public and private peering.
Space starting from half a rack, with power you can set up to 10 kW and, for projects that need it, dedicated set-ups with a cage and independent access.
Dual, independent power supply, with N+1 redundancy on the generators. Cooling is DX (direct expansion) in an N+1 configuration in the data halls and 2N in the technical rooms.
Free cooling and water-free cooling, in refurbished buildings rather than new ones: energy efficiency is part of the design, not a label.
Floors rated for loads up to 1,000 kg per square metre, active video surveillance, access logs and continuous environmental monitoring.
Your data stays where you choose, in Italy or in Europe, and you always know where it resides and who can access it.
Why it matters
The workload runs close to the people who use it: the distance between user and server stops being the bottleneck.
An event that stops one site does not stop the others, because the sites are truly separate, not two rooms in the same building.
Data is replicated between the data centers you choose: replication between two Italian sites does not leave the country, so the backup copy stays under the same jurisdiction as the original.
The network
Choose where your workloads run: low latency for your users, geographic redundancy and replication between sites.
Venice 1, in Noventa di Piave, is our own data center; the other sites are partner data centers. Not every service is available at every site: check availability before you activate a service.
Rackone as a provider
ISO 9001 certifies the quality management system: processes that are defined, measured and continuously improved. ISO/IEC 27001 is the standard for information security management.
Rackone's ISO/IEC 27001 certificate includes the ISO/IEC 27017 controls for the cloud and the ISO/IEC 27018 controls for personal data in the public cloud, in line with the GDPR.
The certified site is Via Calnova 119, in Noventa di Piave, and both certificates are verified by an independent body, WCS Ltd.
The partner data centers of the Edge network
The partner sites the Edge network runs on in Italy are certified ISO/IEC 22237 Parts 1-7, the standard that covers data center facilities, and ANSI/TIA-942-C Rating 3. These certifications are issued site by site, not to the company.
On top of these come ISO 14001 for the environment, ISO/IEC 20000-1 for service management, ISO 22301 for business continuity and ISO 45001 for health and safety at work.
Sites covered: Turin, Milan, Venice Campalto, Genoa and Florence. For the other sites in the network, check the certification of the individual site with us before you activate a service.
Your hardware
Housing is the service for servers you own: your hardware goes into the data centers of the Edge network in Italy, in a supervised environment.
Housing does not include computing capacity: you install the hardware you own, in a full rack or half a rack, with controlled access and redundant power and cooling. For rented hardware, Rackone offers dedicated servers and VPS hosting in Italy.
Rackone's Edge network has ten data centers across Italy and Europe: Venice, Milan, Florence, Rome, Turin and Genoa in Italy, plus Germany and Switzerland. Not every service is available at every site, so availability is checked with you before a service is activated.
Both, on two levels. Venice 1, in Noventa di Piave, is our own data center, and everything that needs direct supervision runs through it. The other nine sites are partner data centers in Italy and Europe: one network and one point of contact, because the contract, the SLA and support stay with Rackone.
Yes, the partner sites in Turin, Milan, Venice Campalto, Genoa and Florence are certified ISO/IEC 22237 Parts 1-7 and ANSI/TIA-942-C Rating 3, site by site, plus ISO 14001, ISO/IEC 20000-1, ISO 22301 and ISO 45001; for the other sites, check with us before activating. Rackone as a provider is certified ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 27001, which includes the 27017 and 27018 controls.
Not unless you choose it: data on Rackone's Edge network stays at the site you choose. The eight Italian sites and the German site are in the EU; the Swiss site is outside the Union and is used only if you choose it. Replication between two Italian sites does not leave the country, and you always know where your data resides and who can access it.
Yes, bringing your server is the housing and colocation service: your hardware goes into the Edge network data centers in Italy, with independent 24h badge access, controlled entry and video surveillance.
Yes, a company anywhere in the world can run workloads on Rackone's Edge network: you choose the site in Italy or in Europe, the contract stays with Rackone, and our team answers in English or in Italian at the same contacts as our Italian customers.
Data sovereignty
An Italian company, with our own data center in Venice and an Edge network of partner data centers in Italy and Europe, and no transfers outside the EU: you always know where your data resides and who can access it, in line with GDPR and NIS2.
A data center of our own in Venice, ten sites across Italy and Europe, and replication between data centers where you choose. A systems engineer answers, in English or in Italian.
